A recent memory study has shown light on how the brain blocks memories together. If you have months of routine piling up, with Covid-19 restrictions - don't we all? If you have months of routine days, where one day becomes the next, then your brain stores those in one 'block'. And when you look back on that timeframe, it feels dull and uninteresting; can even lead to depression.
But if you vary your routine, try something new, do something different - your brain stores those in separate blocks. And when you look back on that, you will feel like you are living life to the fullest, that it is varied and rich and worthwhile.
Mix up your routine, go somewhere new, walk a different route, connect with someone, practice random acts of kindness, find a new hobby - and with very little effort (or cost) you can enrich your life and feel like you've 'lived'!
